Celebrate the arrival Spring. On March 24 from 12 noon to 4 pm, The OC Mart MiX, a marketplace for gourmet foods, coffee and wine with over 30 shops under one roof in Costa Mesa at South Coast Collection (SOCO), will be celebrating its 1st Annual Spring Fling.

A host of activities will be taking place, including:

· Organic To Green will offer a mini facial and make up application with a free serum as a gift from the skin care company’s upcoming 7 Serums launch, all after a $50 purchase. DEER LOVELY EXPANDING SHOP AT THE OC MART MIX
AND TO OPEN MEN’S SHOP CALLED WHISKEY TANGO 1977

Deer Lovely, a uniquely curated selection of clothing and accessories, will open a men’s concept shop called Whiskey Tango 1977 and expand to become one of the largest retail shops at The OC Mart MiX, a marketplace for gourmet foods, coffee and wine with over 30 shops under one roof.

The new 800 square foot space will feature the new men’s section at Whiskey Tango 1977, while Deer Lovely will offer an expanded women’s collections including more accessories, beauty, home and shoes. The stores will also expand the lines it carries, including new Lines for Spring/Summer: Katin Mens, Gentle Fawn, Show me your MuMu, Hobo International, Zatchels English Satchels, and Levi's.

Slated to be open on April 1, Deer Lovely and Whiskey Tango 1977 co-founders, a husband and wife team, Sarah and Mike Dowdell are committed to well crafted, unique, and affordable items that can't be found everywhere. With a focus on supporting local, community brands such as Tankfarm, Toddland, Collaborative World, 31 Bits, Dustie Doll and Krochet Kids International, they also want the shop to create a comfortable space to chill and hang out.
90% of the stock is under $100, while the other 10% is under $300, which is mostly comprised of handmade satchels from England, leather bags and unique coats for the Winter.

“We are locals to the core and believe in shopping local, small businesses. We eat frequently at food trucks, support local stores, and take family trips to Farmers markets,” says Sarah. “For Deer Lovely and now Whiskey Tango 1977, my husband and I knew we wanted a store that offers something for the hip shopper that has grown up from Urban Outfitters but isn’t grown up enough to spend $300 on a pair of jeans. Also, as the owners, we are here 90% of the time interacting with our clients.”

Coming soon to the OC, Beauty Cirque’s first location, a beauty and grooming destination like no other. Located front and center within The OC Mart Mix, this new retailer will be the exclusive beauty door within the mart offering a curated selection of the coolest indie, niche beauty brands and product solutions for women and men of all ages. Slated to be open on April 1, Beauty Cirque will be the second store at The OC Mart MiX for Rianna Loving, whose first store is Organic To Green

Store creator Rianna Loving created the concept “to offer a new platform for smaller brands that are innovative with a point of difference, great packaging and strong performance that may not be able to obtain distribution in today’s market as the larger retailers only focus on established brands. I want to help these brands gain exposure with consumers in order to build a loyal following and use our first retail door, future expansion doors in other marts in southern California and other major metropolitan areas in the United States, and website as a stepping stone to becoming a household name and attract a loyal following.”

To help with the effort, Rianna has enlisted Brad Jones, a brand manager who has worked in product development, distribution, branding and strategy for such brands as Andre Walker Hair, Drybar, The Blind Barber, Ted Gibson and Neil George to assist with the merchant buying role to identify the newest indie brands just waiting to be discovered.

Brand Creator Rianna Loving is a 30 year old creative mind with an education in art, aesthetics, handcrafting formulas, retail and design. With an early career background as a professional performing artist in television and dance, her problem skin was always a personal issue. She would create mask formulas in her kitchen but also relied on the latest and greatest synthetic treatments. When she became a mom, now of two, her awareness of a healthy, natural lifestyle and social responsibility became important. She is a licensed esthetician in the state of CA, and in addition to curating Beauty Cirque, Rianna is also the brand creator of LA’s popular and innovative eco-friendly line Organic to Green featuring products packaged in reusable donated glass, refillable hotel amenities and toiletries, and a soon to be launched skin care product system, 7 Serums, which is the best of botanical and scientific chemistry combined to leave skin balanced without filler ingredients.

SUMMER SEWING - FASHION CAMP OC ANNOUNCES SUMMER CAMPS FOR YOUNG FASHIONISTAS

Fashion Camp OC at the oc mart MiX in Costa Mesa, a skill-based camp focused on fashion, design, sewing, styling and creating, has just announced its summer camp dates for 2012.
Fashion Camp OC will host eight weeks of camp this summer, including: week long camps, including the original Fashion Camp, along with a new Advanced Camp for those returning, as well as two Sewing Camps, and a Teen Styling Camp. All camps are broken down by age: Kids (ages 7-9); Tweens (ages 10-12) and Teens (ages 13-18).
All camps are $295. Early birds can get a rate of $225 before April 30 and $265 before June 1.
