HOLIDAY BUDGET SHOPPING TIPS FROM RECREATION AND SPORTING GOODS EXPERT LEO PAIS OF BRAVO SPORTS
Money is tight but the holidays are coming anyway. Longtime Bravo Sports CEO Leo Pais, heads of one of the nation’s largest manufacturers of recreation and sporting goods, is offering his holiday shopping tips to make every toy purchase worth your while.
With a stable of market-leading brands including Pulse™, Quik Shade™, Moto Shade™, Airzone™, Tony Hawk™, Birdhouse™, Darkstar™, Kryptonics™, Hyper™ and Variflex™ to go along with industry leading licenses with outstanding partners like Nickelodeon, Mattel, Cartoon Network and Disney, Leo is an expert on outdoor toys and the spending habits of kids and parents.
Here are Leo’s shopping tips this holiday:
• Don’t spend money on toys that no one will play with after the first five minutes even if you got a great deal on it. Look for classic toys that kids for generations have loved and you will see not only your kids but all the kids in the neighborhood play with it making it well worth the money.
• Choose toys that can grow with your kids. Kids and teens love to ride on ramps and rails with their skateboards and bikes and practice their tricks for years.
• Space is at a premium in our homes, so look for toys that are easy to store and organize. If the kids can find and reach the toys easily, they will be sure to play with them making it worth your money.
• Get what they want and just ask. Most kids/teens these days already know what they want by going online and checking things out. So just ask them to show you their favorites online, which is also an easy way to price check before you go shopping.
• Be sure to look at the End Caps at the retail stores. (This is the section on the end of every isle.) Often times they put the sale items on those, as well as new products.
• Get a two-fer. Buy toys that are not only fun but also get your kids outside like scooters, skates or pogo sticks. They will get exercise and have fun playing at the same time.
• Make a list and do research before shopping. Do the leg work before Black Friday/Cyber Monday so you know what items you are looking for, are not overwhelmed and avoid impulse buys.
Many of the products included in the Bravo Sports Holiday catalog have been featured in national magazines such as Parents, Ser Padres, Transworld Surf, Sports Illustrated, Family Circle and all of them are currently available at national retailers such as Walmart, Target, K-Mart, Sports Authority, Dicks, and Toy R’ Us among others.
With over 100 products featured in its holiday catalog, Bravo Sports has something for everyone – from the Under 6 Set to Teens & Tweens and the “Young at Heart,” with MANY products priced at Under $50.

O-MAMA FOUNDERS HONORED AS ONE OF ORANGE COUNTY’S "HOT 25"
O-MAMA.COM LAUNCHES “HOT MAMA” FEATURE CELEBRATING EVERY DAY MOMS DOING AMAZING THINGS
Trish Karlin of The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation Named as First “Hot Mama” Honoree
San Clemente, CA -- Redefining the term "Hot MAMA", http://www.o-mama.com/ founders, Michelle Tingler and Debbie Devine, are proud to announce that they have been named one of Orange County’s Hot 25 by OC Metro, a list which highlights 25 of 2010’s “movers and shakers” from Orange County. In light of their recent recognition, O-MAMA.com has chosen this moment to launch a new feature on the site, extending the honor of “Hot MAMA” to everyday moms doing amazing things to positively impact their family, community and/or country.
O-MAMA.com is the online resource that uses parenting, instead of party lines, as the framework to discuss news and events from a mom’s perspective. This new “friendly forum” has garnered the attention of the media nationwide including Oprah Radio Network and Redbook and is the reason for OC Metro honoring the founders with the “Hot 25” award. O-MAMA makes the connection between the news of the day and the lessons we are teaching our kids at home and offers moms a way to engage and promote friendly, constructive debates across the aisle on everything from politics to stepmom/divorced mom relationships.
With the launch of the new “Hot MAMA” feature, O-MAMA is officially redefining the term “hot mama” to celebrate the ambition, skill and power of moms who are out there putting their talents to good use to make our country, and world, a better place.
Meet the First Hot MAMA: Trish Devine Karlin - Vice President, Global Business Planning, Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation
The mission of the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF) is to eliminate HIV in children worldwide. As Vice President, Global Business Planning, Trish Karlin has helped establish one of the world’s largest programs for the prevention of HIV transmission from mother to baby. EGPAF is now working in more than 5000 health care sites to deliver critical HIV prevention and treatment services for families, and reaches more than 2 million pregnant women each year. A 16-year veteran of the Foundation, Trish is responsible for program operations, resource management, and sustainability planning. Before joining the Foundation, Karlin worked for the California State Controller’s Office and served as Executive Director of the John M. Lloyd Foundation, where she is currently a board member. As the mother of two great boys Miles (9) and Dean (5), who contributes to the fight against mother/baby HIV transmission, Trish exemplifies the kind of woman worthy of being named a Hot Mama, reminding us that "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure" and there is nothing more important to MAMAS than the health and well-being of our babies. http://www.pedaids.org/

ABOUT O-MAMA.com
O-MAMA.com—short for Opinionated MAMA—is a new resource for news and events from a mom’s perspective founded on the belief that moms can be a constructive voice in the national dialogue by applying common sense principles honed in motherhood to get to the heart of the issues that matter most to our kids and our country.
Michelle Tingler, a democrat and mother of three and Debbie Devine, a Republican and mother of two created O-MAMA.com to be a civilized forum that connects moms to the political and social issues of our time. Putting parenting lessons in the context of the bigger issues of the day not only makes the site relevant and meaningful on a broad scale, but positions America's moms as a critical voice missing from our country's most important conversations.
Moms from Maine to California have identified O-MAMA as a destination where they can effectively and constructively use their collective skills honed in motherhood to find common ground on the tough issues and create real change in their homes and communities, and for our country . Since its launch in November 2009, traffic to the site has increased over 500% and O-MAMA’s mamas, Michelle and Debbie, have been featured in REDBOOK magazine, Oprah Radio’s Dr. Laura Berman Show, The Orange County Register, The Chicago Tribune, Coast Magazine, OC Family.com, Raising Arizona Kids, and several other blogs and websites making the connection between the messages in the news of the day and the lessons we are teaching our kids at home.
“Kitchen Table Talk” videos on the site cover a range of topics from guns to gay marriage, health care to terrorism--with a little humor and a lot of common sense. "Interest groups" for moms of every kind, plus chat rooms on all the "hot button" issues of the day encourage America's moms to give a fresh alternative to the often tiresome talking heads across the cable networks. It’s all there on O-MAMA.com, empowering moms and ensuring that CHANGE BEGINS AT HOME.
Registration is free and every opinion counts!
From the kitchen table to Capital Hill to the cable newsrooms and the blogosphere, America’s moms are becoming a important voice in the political discourse of our country.

Vonny, a beautiful Southern girl who lives in LA, is the designer and inspiration behind the tote and accessories company under the same name -- Vonny.

Every busy working mom knows how to take something off her plate and Vonny does it by ordering roses via an iPhone app from California Blooms, which gave her table the perfect pop of color. KT Steppers made the super cute step stool with "Yum" written on it for Vonny's daughter to help in the kitchen. So cute!

ENSIGN FUND TO HOST 1st ANNUAL MIX + MINGLE BY THE SEA TO RAISE FUNDS FOR ENSIGN INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL
Newport Beach, CA –A group of over 40 members and other parents of children attending Ensign Intermediate School in Newport Beach, CA called The Ensign Fund, have set out to raise $110,000 for the 2010-2011 school year. The kick-off event will be the 1st Annual Mix + Mingle By The Sea, an event to raise necessary funds affected by the state budget cuts and most importantly create a parent community among the families attending the school.
“Middle school is such a quick two years, and we are excited for this new event as a way to bring together our families from our five feeder elementary schools into one Seabee community.” Comments Steve McLaughlin, the Principal at Ensign.
Top priority for the group’s budget and administration is to fund a College Guidance Specialist. This position is crucial and beneficial to all students at Ensign and would be responsible for managing programs such as Challenge Day - http://www.challengeday.org/challenge-day-program.php; AVID http://www.avid.org/about.html ; National Junior Honor Society; G.A.T.E. (Gifted & Talented Education); Renaissance Program; Extracurricular Clubs, Intramural Sports; Technology upgrades and more. The Ensign Fund raises money for many other enrichment programs at Ensign Intermediate School, including faculty support to provide smaller learning environments.
The 1st Annual Mix + Mingle By The Sea event will be held on Sunday, October 3rd at the American Legion Hall (215 East 15th St., Newport Beach) from 5:00-9:00 pm.
